Specialty

Portrait of a Podiatric Foot and Ankle Surgeon
A podiatric foot and ankle surgeon is a highly trained professional that is able to provide comprehensive foot and ankle care. A podiatric foot and ankle surgeon is intensely educated in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders and diseases of the foot and ankle. The podiatric foot and ankle surgeon diligently works to provide the highest quality, most effective, comprehensive care of the foot and ankle, and is also rigorously trained to perform surgery on the foot and ankle, when necessary.

Training
Among the 14,000 podiatric physicians in the country, approximately 5,000 are board certified and/or board qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Our surgeons are not only certified with this Board but also possess more advanced training than other podiatric and orthopedic surgeons.

Advanced Techniques
The difference is directly related to the clinical experience and surgical residency training of the individual as well as board certification. Unlike the surgeons at Rochester Center for Foot & Ankle Surgery, most foot and ankle surgeons (both orthopedic and podiatric) have not completed three years of podiatric surgical residency or orthopedic fellowship. Our physicians possess the highest degree of advanced surgical training. A short list of some of the conditions that we can treat is listed below:
